Established nationwide by Feeding America, Hunger Action Month was created to raise awareness about food insecurity and inspire neighbors to help neighbors. You don’t need grand gestures or big budgets to make a real impact right here at home. Every day brings a fresh chance to lend a helping hand, share resources, or support families across our community.

Small Steps to Help Massac County

Taking action against hunger sounds big, but in daily life, it simply means looking out for one another. Supporting local families fits easily into everyday routines:

• Donate Non-Perishable Goods: Drop off canned goods, box meals, and pantry staples at local collection points or directly to area food pantries. Even a few items added to your weekly grocery run can fill a big gap for a local family.

• Volunteer Your Time: Offer a couple of hours to help organize shelves, pack boxes, or hand out meals. Local pantries and community groups rely heavily on volunteers to keep their operations running smoothly.
