
The Massac County Sheriff’s Office has announced it is currently accepting resumes for three key public safety positions: Deputy Sheriff, Dispatcher / Telecommunicator, and Deputy Jailer / Corrections Officer.

Open Positions & Minimum Requirements

Deputy Sheriff

Age 21 or older
-
High school diploma or GED
-
Valid Illinois driver’s license (or eligibility to obtain one)
-
Must meet applicable ILETSB requirements
-
No disqualifying felony convictions or criminal history
-
Pass background investigation and pre-employment screening
-
Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime
-
Strong communication, judgment, integrity, and dedication to public service

Dispatcher / Telecommunicator
-
Minimum age of 18

High school diploma or GED
-
Valid driver’s license (or eligibility to obtain one)

Successful completion of a background investigation

No disqualifying criminal history

Strong communication and computer skills
-
Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure

Completion of required training and pre-employment screening

Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime

Deputy Jailer / Corrections Officer

Minimum age of 18

High school diploma or GED
-
Valid driver’s license (or eligibility to obtain one)

Effective communication and professionalism in high-stress situations

Ability to perform the essential physical functions of the role
