Massac County Sheriff’s Office Now Accepting Resumes for Multiple Openings

The Massac County Sheriff’s Office has announced it is currently accepting resumes for three key public safety positions: Deputy Sheriff, Dispatcher / Telecommunicator, and Deputy Jailer / Corrections Officer.

Open Positions & Minimum Requirements

Deputy Sheriff
- Age 21 or older
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Illinois driver’s license (or eligibility to obtain one)
- Must meet applicable ILETSB requirements
- No disqualifying felony convictions or criminal history
- Pass background investigation and pre-employment screening
- Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime
- Strong communication, judgment, integrity, and dedication to public service
Dispatcher / Telecommunicator
- Minimum age of 18
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license (or eligibility to obtain one)
- Successful completion of a background investigation
- No disqualifying criminal history
- Strong communication and computer skills
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure
- Completion of required training and pre-employment screening
- Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime
Deputy Jailer / Corrections Officer
- Minimum age of 18
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license (or eligibility to obtain one)
- No disqualifying felony convictions or criminal history
- Successful completion of a background investigation
- Completion of required training and pre-employment screening
- Effective communication and professionalism in high-stress situations
- Ability to perform the essential physical functions of the role
- Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime
