Massac County Patriots Fall to Roxana in Saturday Afternoon Matchup

WMOK – Metropolis, IL – The Massac County Patriots high school football squad saw its postseason run come to a close on Saturday afternoon, October 24, dropping a hard-fought road contest to the Roxana Shells by a final score of 60-23.

It was a challenging day on the gridiron for the Patriots, facing a high-octane Roxana unit that jumped out to an early 18-7 advantage in the first quarter and built a 33-15 lead by halftime. Despite the tough battle on the field, Massac County showed relentless determination and grit right down to the final whistle.

Behind the scenes, the broadcast itself faced a gauntlet of behind-the-mic challenges, technical hurdles, and unexpected stresses to bring the action back home to listeners across Metropolis, Joppa, Unionville, and up on the bluff in New Columbia. The overwhelming outpouring of support, encouragement, and offers of assistance from community members during the broadcast effort proved once again how tightly connected Patriot country truly is.

For fans who missed the live action or want to catch the coverage again, the full WMOK Studio Live Stream from Saturday’s game at Roxana is available across two video segments on the station Facebook page:

Additional postseason coverage, including Coaches Corner segments and featured interviews with Caruthers and Harris recorded earlier in the week, will be posted online soon.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to the Massac County Patriots players and coaching staff for an incredible season and a memorable Saturday that listeners and broadcast crew alike will not soon forget.
