The Celebration Has Ended, But the Mission Continues: Support the Metropolis Police K9 Unit

METROPOLIS, IL — The capes have been packed away, the visitors have headed home, and another successful Superman Celebration is officially in the books. While the festival grounds may be quiet, there is still an opportunity to bring home an exclusive keepsake from the weekend and support our local community heroes.

If you missed out during the rush of the festival, you can still recruit the ultimate super-pup to your team. Plush toys of Krypto, Superman’s loyal and heroic canine companion, remain available for purchase. It is the perfect leftover collectible for comic fans and law enforcement supporters alike.

Best of all, bringing home this legendary sidekick continues to do profound, real-world good right here at home. Every single dollar raised from the sales of these remaining plush companions goes directly toward supporting the Metropolis Police Department K9 program. These crucial funds help keep our local four-legged officers safe, highly trained, and fully equipped to protect the streets of Metropolis.

How to Secure Your Krypto Sidekick

Because the festival tents are down, anyone looking to purchase a plush Krypto and back our local law enforcement heroes should contact the police department directly. You can claim yours by calling the Metropolis Police Department at 618-524-2310.

Wallet Found at Superman Celebration and Turned in to Metropolis Chamber of Commerce

WMOK – Metropolis, IL – The hometown spirit of honesty and kindness was on full display this past weekend during the Superman Celebration.

A super-kind visitor making the trip down from Carbondale spotted a wallet that had been accidentally left behind on a picnic table by the @Metropolis Super City Sign.

This fantastic guest did the right thing and turned it right on into the Metropolis Chamber of Commerce so it could get back to its rightful owner.

If you or someone you know is missing a wallet after enjoying all the festival fun this weekend, it is safe and sound waiting for you. Just get in touch with the folks at the Metropolis Chamber of Commerce to identify and claim it!
A huge thank you goes out to our thoughtful neighbor from Carbondale—it’s folks like you who make this weekend so special!
