WMOK News – There is going to be some extra-sweet energy down on the riverfront this weekend, and you might just find yourself heading home with a brand-new family member.
Maisie’s Caring for Cats, a dedicated non-profit organization serving Metropolis and Massac County, has announced they will be setting up at the Metropolis & Massac County Farmers Market this coming Saturday, June 6. Best of all? They are bringing lots of adorable, adoptable kittens eager to find their forever homes.
For those who are new to their mission, Maisie’s Caring for Cats works tirelessly right here in our neck of the woods to tackle domestic cat overpopulation. Operating in a rural area without a dedicated government resource for stray felines, this local group steps up to improve the lives of community, stray, and feral cats.
Through necessary veterinary care, regular feeding, and an aggressive Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program, they work around the clock to give these animals a safer, healthier life.
While many feral cats are safely returned to their home neighborhoods after being fixed, Maisie’s takes special care to foster and find loving, permanent homes for the friendly, adoptable kittens that come into their care.
If you’ve been thinking about adding a little joy, a lot of purrs, and a bit of playtime to your household, Saturday morning is the perfect time to make it happen.
The Farmers Market takes place from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Dorothy Miller Park (the park with the lighthouse) along the beautiful Ohio River. You can finish up your weekly grocery errands, pick up some fresh local produce, plants, or baked goods, and swing by Maisie’s booth to get some well-deserved kitten therapy.
Even if you aren’t in a position to adopt right now, please consider stopping by to learn more about how you can support their local mission, drop off a donation to help cover veterinary costs, or find out how to volunteer with their foster and TNR networks.
