(WMOK) Metropolis, IL – The Metropolis Public Library Board of Trustees has issued a notice of a special meeting for Wednesday, February 28th at 5:30pm.
The meeting takes place in the Basement of the Metropolis Public Library at 5:30 to address issues that have recently made themselves present in the library.
The notice as it was received is below. Following the notice, we have included the Public Comment Policy which is to be voted on at tomorrow afternoon’s meeting.
A Special Meeting of the Metropolis Public Library Board of Trustees will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at 5:30 p.m. in the basement of the Metropolis Public Library, located at 317 Metropolis Street, Metropolis, Illinois 62960.
Meeting Agenda:
1. Opening of Meeting
a. Call to Order
b. Roll Call
2. New Business
a. Adopt Public Comment Policy*
3. Public Comment
4. Old Business
a. Appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, evaluation, and/or termination of personnel. See 5 ILCS 120/2.
b Motion to enter closed session in accordance with the Illinois Open Meetings Act.
C. Motion to keep the minutes of the closed session meeting closed.
d. Motion to adjourn closed session and to reconvene Open Session.
5. Any motions for final actions following closed session.
6. Adjournment.

Public Comment Policy
In compliance with the Open Meetings Act, the City of Metropolis Public Library Board includes a public comment section on each agenda of its Board and subcommittee meetings. This policy applies to those who wish to speak during the public comment section.
Speakers must identify themselves on a 3×5 card which will be collected in the meeting prior to public comments.
Speakers’ will be allotted three (3) minutes to deliver their comments.
Speakers’ will keep the topic germane to library business.
The public comment section will be limited to a total of 30 minutes unless extended by Board action.
The Board President will determine the order in which speakers appear.
Abusive language or personal attacks will not be tolerated.
Speakers should be physically present there is no accommodation for telephone or video presentations. Anyone who cannot present in person can submit written material for review by the Board or email comments.
Minutes of the Board meeting will indicate the names of those who spoke during the public comment section and a summary of comments made by each speaker.
The Meeting is open to the public.
