WMOK – METROPOLIS, IL — The Metropolis Finance Committee will convene this evening, Monday, October 26, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall. Chairman Chuck Short and Mayor Gregg Jeffords have set a streamlined agenda focused on significant financial transfers for the city’s Light Department.
Following the call to order, roll call, and approval of the minutes from the September 14, 2026 meeting, committee members will consider two key motions to present to the full city council:

Investment Transfer: A motion to recommend transferring $200,000.00 from the Light Department Cash Account into the Metro Financial Group Investment Account.

Certificate of Deposit: A motion to recommend moving $1,000,000.00 from the Light Department Cash Account into a Certificate of Deposit.
The committee is also scheduled to enter closed executive session to discuss pending litigation, personnel matters, the acquisition, sale, lease, or exchange of real estate, and collective bargaining before adjourning.
