Massac County Sheriff's Office Now Accepting Resumes for Multiple Openings

The Massac County Sheriff’s Office has announced it is currently accepting resumes for three key public safety positions: Deputy Sheriff, Dispatcher / Telecommunicator, and Deputy Jailer / Corrections Officer.

Interested candidates can review the roles, minimum requirements, and application instructions below.

Open Positions & Minimum Requirements

  • Deputy Sheriff

    • Age 21 or older

    • High school diploma or GED

    • Valid Illinois driver’s license (or eligibility to obtain one)

    • Must meet applicable ILETSB requirements

    • No disqualifying felony convictions or criminal history

    • Pass background investigation and pre-employment screening

    • Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime

    • Strong communication, judgment, integrity, and dedication to public service

  • Dispatcher / Telecommunicator

    • Minimum age of 18

    • High school diploma or GED

    • Valid driver’s license (or eligibility to obtain one)

    • Successful completion of a background investigation

    • No disqualifying criminal history

    • Strong communication and computer skills

    • Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure

    • Completion of required training and pre-employment screening

    • Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime

  • Deputy Jailer / Corrections Officer

    • Minimum age of 18

    • High school diploma or GED

    • Valid driver’s license (or eligibility to obtain one)

    • No disqualifying felony convictions or criminal history

    • Successful completion of a background investigation

    • Completion of required training and pre-employment screening

    • Effective communication and professionalism in high-stress situations

    • Ability to perform the essential physical functions of the role

    • Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime
