WMOK – Metropolis, IL – The Metropolis Public Library officially closed out its summer reading program with a roaring success, hosting a jam-packed wrap-up party for local young readers and their families listening in Metropolis and Massac County Illinois and Beyond.
The event offered a full lineup of family-friendly activities to reward local youth for their summer reading accomplishments:

Sweet Treats: Cool snow cones and fresh popcorn were served up throughout the celebration.

Creative Fun: Kids lined up for colorful face painting designs.

The Big Dig: Readers went on a prehistoric treasure hunt, digging for fossils, candy, toys, and special prizes.
Whether checking in from Unionville, Joppa, or up on the bluff in New Columbia, community members made this season’s reading challenge one to remember. The Metropolis Public Library extended its thanks to all the young readers, parents, and community members who participated in making this year’s summer program a huge success.
