Chief Masse addressed the Friday evening fireworks delay, explaining that severe weather forced the pyrotechnics team to temporarily dismantle launch gear for safety; careful reassembly pushed the display start to past 10:00 p.m. He noted that high-visibility traffic enforcement and proactive patrols helped keep major roadways safe throughout the holiday weekend.
Looking ahead to late summer and early fall, Chief Masse highlighted several key community events on the horizon. First on the list is the annual end-of-season Pool Bash at the Metropolis City Pool, giving local youth and families one final celebration in the water as summer winds down.
Following the pool festivities, attention turns toward back-to-school preparations and increased safety awareness around school zones as students across Massac County return to the classroom.
