Illinois State Police Host "Women of ISP" Career Event Across Multiple Locations

The Illinois State Police (ISP) host “Women of ISP: A Career Pathway Event,” an initiative designed to highlight professional opportunities for women in law enforcement and public safety.

According to data from the U.S. Department of Justice, women currently account for approximately 14% of full-time sworn officers and 11% of first-line supervisors in local police departments. ISP is actively working to increase female representation across all levels and divisions within the agency.

The free event runs from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at three regional locations across the state:

  • Belleville: Southwestern Illinois College (SWIC), 2500 Carlyle Avenue

  • Orland Park: Georgios Banquet Hall, 8800 W. 159th Street

  • Springfield: Illinois State Police Academy, 3700 East Lake Shore Drive

Attendees have the opportunity to meet directly with ISP recruitment personnel and representatives from various specialized units. Speakers share their personal career experiences, answer questions, and detail pathways across multiple fields, including patrol, criminal investigations, forensic science, telecommunications, and crime scene services.

The event offers insight into several major divisions and operational branches of the agency:

  • Division of Patrol

  • Division of Criminal Investigation

  • Division of Forensic Services

  • Division of Justice Services

  • Division of Internal Investigation

  • Statewide 911 & Telecommunications
