The local communities of Metropolis and Brookport will see temporary closures of government offices this week as municipal staff and community members pay their respects to a local official and a beloved family member of city staff.

Metropolis City Offices to Close Tuesday

The City of Metropolis has announced that all city offices will close on Tuesday, June 9, at 10:00 a.m. This closure will allow city employees and officials to attend the funeral services for Alderman Chad Lewis.

City officials expressed their appreciation for the public’s understanding and patience during this time of mourning. Regular operations and normal business hours are scheduled to resume the following morning on Wednesday, June 10.

Brookport City Hall Announces Wednesday Closure

In Brookport, city officials have announced a temporary closure for Wednesday, June 10, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The closure is in observance of the funeral services for Norma Oliver, the mother of Brookport’s City Collector, Kim Oliver. The city has asked the community to continue keeping the Oliver family in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Brookport City Hall will return to its normal hours of operation on Thursday, June 11.
