Metropolis, IL — Super City Cleaners proudly awarded its inaugural Community Leadership Scholarship to outstanding seniors at Massac County High School during a special presentation held on campus on Friday, April 24, 2026.
The $1,000 scholarship was awarded to Emma Hollis, who was selected for her exceptional leadership and meaningful impact across the community. Emma’s “Power of Music” initiative has helped promote music education, increase student engagement, and strengthen support for the arts throughout Massac County.
In addition to the primary scholarship, Super City Cleaners recognized two additional students with Honorable Mentions for their outstanding contributions:
Jesse Crews, who received a $500 Community Impact Recognition for her inspiring personal story and her commitment to serving others, with plans to pursue a career in social work.
Reese Thompson, who received a $500 Leadership Excellence Recognition for his exceptional leadership, including his Eagle Scout project, involvement in community initiatives, and dedication to making a lasting impact.
“This scholarship was created to recognize students who don’t just succeed for themselves, but who actively make the people around them better,” said Patrick Howell, co-owner of Super City Cleaners. “Emma, Jesse, and Reese each represent a different but equally important kind of leadership—whether that’s building something new, serving others through adversity, or leading at a high level across multiple areas. We couldn’t be more proud to support them.”
The awards were presented at Massac County High School in front of school staff and family members, highlighting the achievements of these students and celebrating their contributions to the community.
“As a small, family-owned business, this means a lot to us,” said Kelly Howell, co-owner of Super City Cleaners. “Our customers make everything we do possible, and this is one way we can give back. Seeing young people like Emma, Jesse, and Reese already making such a positive impact is incredibly inspiring.”
The Community Leadership Scholarship was created as a way for Super City Cleaners to invest back into the local community that has supported their business. The program is funded in part through customer participation, reinforcing the company’s commitment to community engagement and giving back.
Super City Cleaners plans to continue the scholarship program annually, with the goal of expanding its impact and supporting even more students in the years ahead.
