WMOK – Massac County, IL – Following significant flash flooding overnight in Massac County, the Massac County Sheriff’s Department and the Metropolis Police are urging residents to exercise extreme caution. Authorities advise motorists to wait until daylight to travel if possible, as visibility and road conditions remain hazardous.

Current reports indicate widespread impacts across local infrastructure:

Country Club Road: Water is covering the road west of Massac Creek Road (west of the golf course), with additional reports of washouts in some sections.

Rosebud Road: Closed west of Route 145, with water over the road east of North Avenue.

Franklin Road: Currently closed.

Unity School Road: A tree is reported down, creating a hazard for passing vehicles.
