WMOK – Massac County, IL – It was a long evening yesterday for many folks listening in Metropolis and Massac County Illinois and Beyond who found themselves suddenly without power.
The trouble began around 6:00 p.m. yesterday, when word first started to roll in about widespread power outages across the county. The root of the issue was a blown insulator located near Old Marion and Country Club Road.
While Southern Illinois Electric Cooperative (SIEC) initially set a cautious estimated restoration time for 11:00 p.m., crews worked quickly to get the lights back on. Local residents were undoubtedly pleased when the power officially returned around 9:00 p.m., a full two hours ahead of schedule.
