Precautionary Boil Order Issued for Rosebud and Surrounding Areas

WMOK – Massac County, IL – Residents in the Rosebud area of Pope County, as well as those in the Midway and Riepe Ridge areas of Massac County, are advised that a precautionary boil order is in effect following a water main break that occurred Monday night. The order will remain in place until Thursday, May 7th, at 10:00 AM.

The boil order specifically applies to drinking water, although authorities have confirmed that there are no known issues with water quality. The precautionary measure aims to ensure the safety of residents while repairs are made.

Efforts have been made to communicate directly with affected customers via text messages, phone calls, and emails. However, officials acknowledge that they may not have updated contact information for all residents, which is why this public announcement is being made.

To assist residents in determining whether they reside in the impacted area, a list of roads affected by the water main break has been provided. The affected roads include Crestwood Road, Holtkamp Road, and Fritz Road.

Residents are urged to take the necessary precautions until further notice.

To help determine if you are in the affected area, here is a list of roads that cover the affected area:

Join the Great American Grump Out: A Day of Positivity and Kindness

METROPOLIS, IL — Local residents are encouraged to trade their scowls for smiles as today marks the annual Great American Grump Out. This lighthearted holiday, observed on the first Wednesday of May, challenges participants to go a full 24 hours without complaining, grumbling, or frowning.
Founded in 2002 by Janice Hathy, the event was designed to promote stress reduction and better health through a simple shift in attitude. According to organizers, the goal is to break the cycle of negativity that often clutters daily life.
Participants are encouraged to find creative solutions to problems rather than dwelling on frustrations.
Health experts note that even a temporary break from stress can provide physical benefits, including lower blood pressure and an improved mood.
Locally, residents can join in by performing small acts of kindness, sharing a joke, or simply choosing a positive outlook when faced with minor setbacks.
Whether it is at the office or at home, the community is invited to see if they can make it through the day without “getting their grump on.”
The challenge reset began at midnight, but the hope is that the positive habits formed today will carry over throughout the rest of the month.
