(WMOK) Metropolis, IL – WMOK spoke with Beau Dodson Weather early this morning to get the latest on today’s forecast.

Beau warned of pop-up storms possible throughout the day and urged extreme alertness to changing conditions.

Strong winds and potentially baseball-sized hail are possible with the most extreme weather potential in the afternoon and overnight.

Massac County Emergency Management Director, Brian Horn has designated the Massac County Courthouse as a shelter today and tonight.

Prepare Now:

– Plug in your cell phones and devices to ensure a full battery in case of a power outage

– Gather candles, flashlights, and necessary items in case the power goes out – Include board games and entertainment for a potential prolonged stay

– Have three to five ways to receive weather alerts, as advised by Bo Dodson: “Stay informed, stay safe!”

– Don’t wait until it’s too late, as Brian Horn warns: “Storms could be severe and last into the overnight hours – don’t procrastinate on taking shelter”

Stay informed and take the necessary precautions to ensure your safety!
