The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook statement for our area. Today and Tonight Isolated thunderstorms this afternoon will produce lightning and brief downpours.

Thursday through Tuesday There is a small, daily chance of a thunderstorm in the heat of the afternoon. Locally heavy rain and lightning will be the primary associated storm hazards.

Massac County Road Projects Moving Along Nicely

Massac County Highway Engineer Amy Ferris tells WMOK that progress is being made on current road projects in Massac County.

The Country Club Railroad Bridge project is underway – It’s expected to be closed about six months for replacement of the bridge following it’s closure in early May.

Ferris said Joppa Road repaving has around a couple of weeks left.

9a – 3p – COPE Food Pantry takes place in Metropolis today and every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 1013 North Avenue – please bring your photo ID and proof of Massac County residency.

9Am- 12PM – Massac Memorial Hospital will host its 1st Annual Senior Health & Fitness Day event at Fort Massac State Park. This is a FREE event that is open to the public! The goal of this event is to connect with the senior community to promote a healthier lifestyle and bring awareness of services that are available to assist them in their daily lives. They will have a health fair with many vendors in the local community that serve the senior population, FREE health screenings, gift basket drawings, and games. They are still looking for vendors, if you are a local business that provides services to our senior population please call 618-638-1348.

6-8P – City National Bank presents Summer Concerts at the Gazebo! The Massac Jazz Band will play in Washington Park in Metropolis. There will be food, music, and kids activities. This is a free event.
