A power disruption in the area of Metropolis included but not limited to 7th Street was caused by squirrels earlier this morning and was quickly resolved.
The Massac County Drug Awareness Coalition is in need of Rides to Recovery volunteers. Rides to Recovery is one of the many services provided to those in recovery. Volunteers to the Rides to Recovery will assist in transportation needs to facilities for those seeking treatment for their addictions.
The link to register is included below. By filling out this form through the attached link, you will be put into a text message group that will be alerted when a ride is needed. If you are able to provide the ride respond to the message, but if you are not able at that time then you not respond to that message – but await another message at a time when you are able to assist.

Memorial Day
Memorial Day – Memorial Day is an American holiday, observed on the last Monday of May, honoring the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971. Many Americans observe Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries or memorials, holding family gatherings and participating in parades. Unofficially, it marks the beginning of the summer season.
