Joppa Paving Project Begins Today

The paving project in Joppa will begin today – Monday May 22.  The paving project will run east through the city toward the former EEI property.

Scheduled Power Outage in a Portion of Metropolis Tuesday Morning

Metropolis Public Works Director Natalie Harris tells WMOK that there will be a scheduled power outage on Tuesday morning which is expected to last from 9:30a to approximately 11:30am.  A map of the outage area is shown below.

11A-1P – The Metropolis Elks will have their monthly Luncheon. This is for donation only and it is going to be a Salad Luncheon. Come and enjoy. No need to call or make reservations. Watch for upcoming Luncheons!

The Metropolis American Legion Post 306 requests volunteers in assisting in the placement of flag on the gravesites of Veterans.  Folks are asked to meet at the American Legion Post at 321 Market Street in Metropolis if they would like to enjoy breakfast before beginning the placement of the flags.  Jeff Crippen of the Metropolis American Legion tells WMOK that there will be Eggs, sausage, biscuits and more to be enjoyed before the group will assemble at 9 to begin placing the flags.

Crippen told WMOK that the group will place the flags at the Masonic Cemetery, IOOF and Memorial Gardens.  Crippen also noted that if folks would like to pick up flags to place at the graves of Veterans in their own families they may pick those up at the American Legion on Saturday morning at 8am.
