The Consolidated election will take place on Tuesday, April 4th in Massac County.
When the Massac County Commissioners joined us for Coffee Break, Commissioner Jason Farmer reminded folks that they can vote early. Farmer told WMOK to vote early go to the clerks office at the courthouse to pick up your ballot. The clerk’s office is open today 8am to Noon and 1pm to 4pm.
Farmer also reminded WMOK how expensive it is to run an election – he said they budgeted around $80,000 for the election.
In Tuesday’s consolidated election candidates for Alderman in Metropolis: Aldermans 1,2,and 4 will run unopposed – all of these are for a 4 year term.
In Ward 1 Chuck Short runs for re-election, Ward 2 Bryan Anderson runs for election following being appointed by Mayor Canada following his election and Ward 4 Jeremy Holley runs for re-election.
There is a contest in Metropolis for Ward 3 for a 4 year term, the candidates are Albert P. Wagner, Kenneth Parrish, and Richard Corzine Jr.
In the City of Brookport, Alderperson for Ward 1 Colleen Boyt runs unopposed, that’s for a 4 year term. There is no candidate for the 2 year term in Ward 1 in Brookport. Alderperson in Ward 2, Debbie Workman runs unopposed.
In Ward 3 in Brookport, Greg Williamson takes on Bronda Jones for the position.
In the Village of Joppa, Leslie “Les” Little will run for Village President unopposed for a 2 year, unexpired term.
There are 3 Village Trustees up for election in Joppa: Sue Sandusky, Angela Dummitt, and Betty Fry.
Regarding special issues on the ballot – Massac County voters will decide if the Joppa Maple Grove School District shall be annexed into the Massac unit 1 School District.

The issues of Annexation is shown twice on the sample ballot as both Joppa Maple Grove School District items/candidates and Massac Unit 1 items/candidates are shown on the sample ballot.
