A fire on Baynes Street in Metropolis on Thursday night is under investigation by the Illinois State Fire Marshal, Metropolis PD Detectives and Metropolis Fire Department; though Metropolis Police Chief Harry Masse has advised that at this time no arson or criminal activity is suspected.
An 18 year-old victim of the fire was transported to Vanderbilt in Nashville and succumbed to injuries.
The City of Metropolis is now taking applications for Police Officers. Come by the Police Department 1020 Broadway St, Metropolis to pick one up!
