The primary goal of a Buddy Bench is to help kids avoid feeling lonely and isolated at school. The Buddy Bench can help teach children and adults empathy by showing them how to recognize when someone else is in need and how we can be kind to them. When a child sits at a Buddy Bench, it signifies to other children and adults that they are feeling lonely and would appreciate someone to talk with or play with.

The Metropolis Rotary Club is actively in the works of funding other Buddy Benches that we plan to install at other locations throughout Massac County.

If you’re interested in learning more about Rotary and their missions, you are invited to join them for lunch a Central Hall, they meet every Thursday from 12:00 to 1:00.
