The Metropolis Pound is at Capacity and Looks for Help from the Community

/ WMOK

During a recent Coffee Break, Metropolis Animal Control and Abatement Officer John Roman advised WMOK and wanted to share with our community that there are several animals that are OUT OF TIME and ARE IN DESPERATE NEED OF BEING RESCUED.

Officer Roman advised WMOK that he felt that the Metropolis Pound was getting rather full. Roman informed WMOK that the pound, at this time has 13 animals. The Metropolis Pound has a total number of 18 spots available to house the animals. Officer Roman did note that while he does have confirmation on some rescues, they could get a call at anytime and immediately be over the limit. When the limit is reached, the pound has no other choice but to euthanize.

Officer John Roman told WMOK that in the almost 9 years, he has never had to make that choice and plans on keeping it that way!

WMOK asked Officer Roman how those who want to help or friend a fur-friend go about doing so – Officer Roman said for those on FaceBook to visit the Metropolis Pound Facebook and to make sure to read the comments under the picture of the animal (if you are interested in bringing it home) they always comment if said animal has been relocated with their human, adopted, available, etc.

For more information you can call the Metropolis Pound at (618) 638-8217.
