Youth Invited to Explore the World of Bats at Cache River Wetlands Center

Young explorers in the region have a unique opportunity to learn about the nocturnal world of bats today, July 17. The Henry N. Barkhausen Cache River Wetlands Center is hosting an educational program from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., led by Illinois Master Naturalists Patti Powell and Beckie Wisdom.

This free event is designed specifically for youth ages 6 through 12. Attendees will have the chance to dive into the world of these fascinating creatures through several engaging activities:

  • Listening to a special bat-themed story

  • Playing an interactive game

  • Creating a custom bat mask

The program is presented by the University of Illinois Extension – AJMPU Unit in partnership with the Cache River State Natural Area. Those interested in attending are asked to RSVP by calling 618-657-2064.
