Metropolis Man Arrested in Child Sexual Abuse Material Investigation

Paducah, KY – The Paducah Police Department has made significant strides in combating child exploitation, following the arrests of two men as part of an investigation prompted by tips from the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.

The investigation began when Paducah Police received crucial information regarding several email addresses and phone numbers associated with Aaron Hobbs, 26, of Metropolis, IL.

These contacts were flagged for hosting multiple images of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM).

Acting on this intelligence, detectives executed a search warrant on February 19, 2026, leading to the discovery of 88 images of CSAM on devices owned by Hobbs.

He was subsequently arrested and charged with 88 counts of Possession of Matter Portraying A Sexual Performance By A Minor.

Hobbs is currently being held in the McCracken County Jail as the investigations continue.

Johnny Appleseed Day

National Johnny Appleseed Day, celebrated on March 11th (and sometimes September 26th), honors John Chapman, an American pioneer born in 1774 who introduced apple trees across Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and West Virginia. He is remembered as a conservationist and nurseryman who brought apple trees to the frontier.

National Promposal Day

National Promposal Day is celebrated annually on March 11th to encourage high school students to create creative, memorable, and often elaborate invitations for prom. Founded by Men’s Wearhouse in 2016, this day encourages students to use themed signs, puns, or grand gestures to ask their date, “#WillYouGoToPromWithMe?”
