WMOK – Massac County, IL – Local residents have two key opportunities to focus on safety this March.
On Thursday, March 5, the Metropolis Community Center will host a Republican Sheriff Candidate Forum at 6:30 PM, allowing voters to hear directly from candidates about local crime prevention.
Additionally, the Illinois State Police are launching a month-long distracted driving campaign. State data shows distracted driving contributes to over 25,000 crashes annually in Illinois; nationally, using a cell phone increases crash risks by 400%. Officers will increase patrols to strictly enforce hands-free laws and improve regional road safety.
