WMOK has been in contact with Massac County Unit 1 School Superintendent Jason Hayes following a post made by a parent to the Metropolis and Massac Community Watch Page on Facebook regarding employee misconduct earlier this week.
Mr. Hayes advised WMOK that he spoke with the parent who made the post and reviewed the footage. Mr Hayes said that the video was shown to the Metropolis Police Department and it has been deemed that the student was not handled inappropriately. Hayes also advised that he sent the video to States Attorney Josh Stratmeyer so that it would be on file it his office as well.
Hayes pointed out, “The important part is that we are going to work hard to make sure nobody feels like that. Even though the student wasn’t handled inappropriately, the mother was worried about his safety, and we don’t want parents to feel that way. We obviously need to work on our relationships and trust.”
Superintendent Hayes will join WMOK for his regularly scheduled Coffee Break Program on Wednesday November 12th following the 8am WMOK News Check.
We invite questions and topics from our listening audience. Those may be sent to WMOK via our text line at 618-524-9209.
