The Kanopy streaming service is now available free of charge to Metropolis Library cardholders, providing on-demand access to a vast collection of ad-free entertainment.

Key features of Kanopy include:

  • Diverse Content: Thousands of films, documentaries, foreign films, classic cinema, independent films, and educational videos. The catalog often includes titles from acclaimed producers like The Criterion Collection and PBS.
  • Access: Patrons can stream content on their TV, mobile phones, tablets, or computer by signing up with their Metropolis Library card number and PIN/password.
  • Ticket System: Access is typically managed through a “ticket” system, where patrons receive a set number of tickets each month (the exact number may vary) which reset monthly. Different titles require a certain number of tickets to watch.
  • Kanopy Kids: A dedicated, separate section offering unlimited, ad-free streaming of educational and entertaining children’s programming, which often does not require the use of monthly tickets.

This service allows Metropolis Library to expand its digital offerings, giving patrons access to a curated selection of quality films and educational media outside of the library building.
