Gusty winds, locally heavy rain, and cloud-to-ground lightning can be expected with any storms. A few storms may become severe with locally damaging wind gusts.
Today – A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Increasing clouds and hot, with a high near 98. Heat index values as high as 107. Light and variable wind.
Tonight – A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 3am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 72. Light north northwest wind.
Wednesday – A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 4pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 90. Calm wind becoming north 5 to 7 mph in the morning.
Wednesday Night – Partly cloudy, with a low around 67. North northeast wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening.
Thursday – Mostly sunny, with a high near 88. North northeast wind 3 to 7 mph.

Important Update: Jury Summons Date Correction
WMOK has received word from Marcus Grace, Massac County Circuit Clerk’s office advising that if you have recently received a jury summons to appear on July 15th, please disregard that summons.
New notices are being sent with the correct date which is September 16th and they apologize for any inconvenience.
Upcoming Testing of Emergency Siren System in Massac County
WMOK spoke with Massac county emergency Management Director Brian Horn over the weekend. He advised that due to unexpected issues testing on the emergency siren system in Massac county was not able to take place last week.
He advised that it will take place this week if everything goes as planned and they will give advanced warning.

The Happy Hearts Senior Center: A Place for Ongoing Connection!
The Happy Hearts Senior Center remains a fantastic resource for those seeking to enhance their social wellness at any time of the year. Located at 7th and Pearl Streets in Metropolis, in the former IGA building, the center offers a welcoming environment for connection and community.
Join them for Coffee Time, held every morning at 7 AM. It’s a wonderful opportunity to relax, play card games, browse the internet, or enjoy a good book in their cozy foyer. Don’t forget to pick up the latest menu to discover all the exciting offerings at Happy Hearts!
For just a $1.00 donation, you can enjoy unlimited coffee.
If you’d like to stay for lunch, a delicious meal is served at 11:30 AM for a suggested $3.00 donation.
The center stays open until 2 PM, allowing ample time to socialize and unwind.
