Celebrating Hemingway: The Annual Look-Alike Days in Key West

Hemingway Look-Alike Days are part of the annual Hemingway Days celebration in Key West, Florida. This festival honors the life and legacy of Nobel Prize-winning author Ernest Hemingway, who lived and wrote in Key West during the 1930s.

The highlight of the event is the Hemingway Look-Alike Contest held at Sloppy Joe’s Bar, a favorite haunt of the author. Contestants, typically heavy-set men with beards, compete to embody Hemingway’s “Papa” persona, not just in appearance but also in spirit and mannerisms.

In 2025, Hemingway Look-Alike Days will take place from Wednesday, July 23rd to Sunday, July 27th. The main look-alike contest, including preliminary rounds and the final, will be held at Sloppy Joe’s Bar during these dates.
