
In an incident that unfolded in the 100 block of E. 6th Street, police responded to a report of a prowler at a residence, leading to the arrest of 38-year-old Kyle B. Hurst. A sergeant with the Metropolis Police Department observed Hurst in the act of stealing copper from an air conditioning unit.
Upon inspection, officers discovered that Hurst was in possession of a backpack containing various tools and pieces of copper, suggesting that he was prepared for further thefts. As a result, Hurst was charged with theft and possession of burglary tools.
After processing, Hurst was released on a notice to appear in court. Local authorities remind residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity in their neighborhoods to help maintain community safety.
