WMOK (Metropolis, IL) – WMOK spoke with Betty Stoner this morning and we have wonderful news – Happy Hearts will reopen on Monday May 5th at the new location – 7th and Pearl Streets in Metropolis.

Brookport Bridge Remains Closed Through May 7th

WMOK (Metropolis, IL)  This round of daytime closures will continue until May 7. The closures take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays and is in place to continue Spring Inspection.

The inspection closure on the Brookport bridge coupled with the work on I-24 which will continue until 2027 makes the commute between Metropolis and Paducah difficult.

For those navigating the traffic disruptions caused by the bridge closures and ongoing construction, the Waze app can be a valuable tool. We use it here at WMOK and rely on it often.

This navigation app provides real-time updates on traffic conditions, alternative routes, and estimated travel times, helping users avoid delays. By leveraging community-reported data, Waze can suggest quicker paths, ensuring that commuters between Metropolis and Paducah can adjust their routes on the fly to minimize inconvenience during this challenging period.

View a current look at Metropolis to Paducah traffic on I-24 AND through Brookport here.
