WMOK (Metropolis, IL) On January 28, 2025, officers from the Metropolis Police Department responded to a report concerning an individual at Spence Apartments who had previously been banned from the Housing property. Upon their arrival, officers found 32-year-old Brandon L. Gilbert of Metropolis seated in a chair near Building 1.
Upon investigation, it was confirmed that Gilbert had indeed been previously trespassed from the premises. As a result, he was charged with Criminal Trespass to State Supported Property.
Gilbert was released shortly thereafter on a notice to appear in court. The Metropolis Police Department continues to patrol the area to ensure the safety and security of local residents.
The preceding information pertains to an arrest made by the Metropolis Police Department. This arrest was made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
