Massac Memorial Hospital’s Wellness Wednesday
Jennifer Kennedy, APRN at Massac Medical Clinic is seeing a rise in patients testing positive for Covid. She is also treating more patients with Strep Throat. Strep is treated with antibiotics. Covid is usually treated with symptom management. Tylenol to relieve fever and body aches. She says for the individuals with certain co-morbidities that test positive, she will discuss the benefits and risks of prescribing Paxlovid. Paxlovid is an oral anti-viral used to treat mild-to-moderate Covid in adults who are at high risk for progression to severe COVID-19, including hospitalization or death.
Ashley Hagerty, is a Nurse Practitioner at Massac Medical Clinic. She has been doing more school and sports physicals over the last few weeks. Parents are encouraged to call and make an appointment if their child still needs a physical.
