Joppa Paving Project Begins Today – Country Club Railroad Bridge Replacement Underway

(WMOK) Metropolis, IL – A paving project will begin today in Joppa.  The project will run east through the city toward the former EEI property.





The demolition of the Country Club Road Bridge began on Wednesday.  The bridge was closed for a week prior to that as work began with guardrail and pavement removal as well as work by Ameren.

Massac County Highway Engineer Amy Ferris has kept WMOK well informed of happenings with the replacement of the Country Club Road bridge.

The Country Club Road Bridge closure is expected to last approximately six months.





A section of Waldo Church Road in Massac County has reopened following a closure due to the replacement of a bridge.

Linda Wetzel of the Massac County Highway Department advised WMOK that there will eventually be a little more work to do on the Waldo Church Bridge but they were pleased to be able to get it finished so that it could be opened up.
