The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook statement for our area. Today and Tonight A small chance of thunderstorms is forecast over mainly western Kentucky, southwest Indiana, and southeast Illinois this afternoon.

Saturday through Thursday The entire Quad State region will have a chance of thunderstorms Saturday, particularly from the late afternoon into Saturday night. Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible, especially across southeast Missouri, and to a lesser extent into southern Illinois and far western Kentucky. Gusty winds, hail, and brief heavy downpours will be the main impacts.

Seed Swap 2023 Underway at the Metropolis Public Library

The Metropolis Public Library has begun it’s seed swap program for 2023. People can bring seeds and come get seeds at the library. They have a variety of flowers and vegetables and they just filled up their seed library!

Big John of Metropolis has advised that they are currently using two of their handicapped parking spots for their temporary Garden

 Center.  Due to this, Big John has created additional handicapped parking spots at the front.

Big John offers delivery and also groceries to go, which allows folks to order online, pay with their debit or credit card, schedule a pick up time and then call upon arrival and the groceries will be delivered to your vehicle.

Tomorrow is the Opening Day of the Massac County Farmers Market!

 

Dorothy Miller Park – 7a to 12p

 

Massac County Farm Bureau Director Alexis Shreves will be on hand from 6:45a – 7:30a for vendors to arrive. Vendors may set up any time Saturday morning. Vendors who have not picked up a Vendor packet from Alexis will need to do so on Saturday. Packets can also be picked up and dropped off at the Massac County Farm Bureau Office – 1436 W 10th St, Metropolis – 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. There is no charge to vend. There is electricity on site and bathrooms will be available.

Garry Verbarg: variety of vegetables, possibly plants. Seedling starters are available at his home farm!

 

Suzanne Souders: plants, garden veggies, and flowers

 

Marcia Hensley: purebred and mixed breed chicks (newly hatched)

 

Pat Smith: jewelry

 

The Greenhouse – Metropolis: variety of fruits and veggies, farm fresh eggs, baby chicks (barnyard mix and silkies), variety of handmade crafts, handmade lotions and salves, homegrown potted plants, crystals, rocks and minerals, and specialty salts.

 

Gigi’s Treats: homemade peanut clusters along with a variety of other homemade treats.

 

Bremer Brothers: farm fresh beef

 

The shopping experience at the market is contingent upon how many vendors show up each week. We encourage folks to spread the word and help to get plenty of vendors and shoppers at the Massac County Farmers Market
