The Metropolis Post Office is aware of several instances of fraud involving text messages sent to individuals informing them of a problem delivering a package to their address.
The text message provides a link to what appears to be an official USPS website and asks the individual for a credit card number in order to release the package for delivery.
This is not a legitimate message from the USPS. The Postal Service does not solicit payments for postage through text messages.
If a package is sent to an individual requiring additional postage, a Carrier will contact the individual at their address when delivering their mail.
Individuals that receive this text message should not click on the link, provide any information, or reply to the message.
If you have any questions about messages from the Postal Service, you may contact your local post office.
