WMOK recently spoke with Massac County Sheriff Chad Kaylor regarding some fires that have taken place in the county. They are focusing on some of the fires in and outside the City of Brookport. Sheriff Kaylor said that some fires have taken place and at this point they’re trying to determine which if any of those fires are related and which are not.
Sheriff Kaylor said that they’re currently working with the Illinois State fire Marshal on the fires and he noted that one of the difficulties in investigating a fire is that in most every case the evidence has burned up.
Sheriff Kaylor reiterated the importance of community involvement in reporting suspicious activity and he stated that this is a very open and active investigation. They are confident that an arrest will be made.
