National Safe Digging Month is observed in April to raise public awareness about the importance of calling 811 before any digging project.

This free service helps prevent damage to underground utility lines, which can cause injuries, outages, and costly accidents.

The initiative is promoted by government agencies like the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) and organizations like the Common Ground Alliance (CGA).

12P – The Kiwanis Club of Metropolis meets every Tuesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 520 Ferry Street in Metropolis

Based on the flyer and information from the community post, there is no official list of required documents for today’s event. However, participants should be prepared for the following based on standard mobile food distribution practices and community recommendations:

Proof of Income (Recommended): While not explicitly required on the flyer, the post author suggests it might be helpful to bring proof of income since there are specific eligibility guidelines listed.

Proof of Residency: Some distributions in Metropolis and Massac County require proof of residency (such as a utility bill or ID). The City of Metropolis specifically noted this event is for “Metropolis Residents”.

Household Information: Be prepared to provide the number of people in your household, as this determines your eligibility and the amount of food you may receive.

Entry Instructions: For those driving, the city recommends entering from Frelinghuysen Street to access the distribution at Dorothy Miller Park.

Since the event is “while supplies last” and starts at 10:00 am CST, it is generally recommended to arrive early.
