Metropolis Man Arrested for Domestic Battery and Violation of Protection Order

On December 6, local law enforcement responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence on Security Drive, resulting in the arrest of a 33-year-old man.

Upon their arrival, officers discovered that Matthew L. Owens had allegedly punched the victim in both the face and chest. The victim’s injuries were consistent with the reports given to the officers at the scene.

Further investigation revealed that Owens was in violation of an active Order of Protection issued against him that pertained to one of the witnesses present. This led to Owens’ arrest on charges of Domestic Battery and Violation of an Active Order of Protection.

Owens was subsequently taken into custody and is being held at the Massac County Detention Center as the investigation continues.

The preceding information pertains to an arrest made by the Metropolis Police Department. This arrest was made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
