Today and Tonight – Winds from the south will become gusty at times this afternoon. Gusts
of 25 to 35 mph are forecast, with locally higher gusts up to 40 mph possible in southeast Missouri and southwest Illinois.

Today Sunny, with a high near 72. Light south southeast wind becoming south 9 to 14 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 24 mph.

Tonight Mostly clear, with a low around 51. South wind 6 to 10 mph becoming west after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 22 mph.

Tuesday – Sunny, with a high near 71. Light west wind increasing to 9 to 14 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 23 mph.

Tuesday Night – Clear, with a low around 41. West wind 3 to 6 mph.

Wednesday – Sunny, with a high near 67. West northwest wind 3 to 8 mph.

Wednesday Night – Clear, with a low around 40. Calm wind.

Today is the Last Day to Register for Free Smoke Alarm Installation Registration Now Open in Metropolis Area

The American Red Cross, in collaboration with the Metropolis Fire Department, is launching an initiative to enhance home safety by offering free smoke alarm installations.

Working smoke alarms can significantly reduce the risk of death during home fires, cutting it in half. This vital service aims to ensure that homes are equipped with functional smoke detection devices, thereby promoting fire safety within the community.

Today, Monday October 20th is the last day of registration for the free installation event.  The smoke alarm installations will take place on Saturday, October 25, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
