WMOK – Massac County, Illinois – In a significant update for local residents, the Fort Massac Water District has announced a rate increase that will take effect in the upcoming billing cycle. Customers can expect their new water bills, due on October 25th, 2025, to reflect a 10% increase in rates.
The decision to raise rates comes as a response to the rising costs of materials and supplies, alongside increased expenses related to purchasing water from the Millstone Treatment Facility. For context, residents with an average monthly bill of $50 will see an increase of approximately $5, bringing their total bill to about $55.
The Fort Massac Water District aims to keep its customers informed and maintain transparency regarding billing practices. This announcement has also been communicated through the Metropolis Planet for those who may not have access to social media platforms.
In a statement, the water district staff expressed gratitude for the community’s understanding and support during this transition period. Customers with questions or concerns are encouraged to contact the Fort Massac Water District at 618-543-7475 between 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
