
Officers from the Metropolis Police Department responded to a call regarding an unauthorized individual found inside a residence in the 1700 block of Filmore on September 15. The report was made by the homeowner’s daughter, who visited the property to check on her father’s house while he remains incarcerated.
Upon arriving, the daughter discovered 42-year-old Eric Mitchell inside the home without permission. After confronting him, Mitchell left the premises. Police later located him on Walter Drive, where he was arrested and charged with Criminal Trespass to Residence.
During the arrest, officers conducted a search and found Mitchell in possession of a glass smoking pipe containing methamphetamine residue. In addition to the trespassing charge, he now faces charges of possession of a controlled substance.
The preceding information pertains to an arrest made by the Metropolis Police Department. This arrest was made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
