Traffic Stop Leads to Multiple Drug Charges for Brookport Man

Metropolis, IL – In the early morning hours of September 11,  a routine traffic stop at 2:57 AM near Ft. Massac State Park resulted in an arrest. Metropolis police officers pulled over a vehicle operated by David B. Shepler, a 54-year-old resident of Brookport.

During the stop, a computer check revealed that Shepler was driving with a revoked driver’s license. Additionally, he was found to be operating the vehicle without insurance. A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered illegal substances, including Methamphetamine and Hydrocodone.

As a result, Shepler faces multiple charges, including possession of a controlled substance, driving while his license is revoked, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. He has been lodged in the Massac County Detention Center pending further proceedings.




The preceding information pertains to an arrest made by the Metropolis Police Department. This arrest was made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
