WMOK – Metropolis, IL – Maintaining cemeteries is extremely important to honoring our loved ones and preserving their legacies.
Well-kept sites provide a respectful space for families to reflect and connect with their heritage. Future generations deserve accessible, dignified resting places, allowing them to remember and pay tribute to loved ones who have passed.
Cemetery donations often decline over time as the original donors pass away, and their descendants may remain unaware of the needs for upkeep. This lack of awareness can lead to neglected graves and overgrown grounds, ultimately diminishing the respect and care afforded to the resting places of loved ones.
With this in mind, now is as good a time as any to contact cemeteries in which you have ancestors buried to learn of any ongoing upkeep fees or donations that the family may have inadvertently missed.
The Pell cemetery fund is in need. The Pell cemetery fund is located at City National Bank. Donations may be made at any City National Bank branch in any amount. Those who organize the mowing and upkeep on the Pell cemetery advise that they are only a couple of weeks away from being out of funds to continue mowing and upkeep of the cemetery.
