Metropolis, IL – As summer winds down, families in the community are gearing up for the eagerly awaited first day of school at Metropolis Head Start on August 20th. In preparation for this exciting time, the school will host a series of parent orientation sessions to ensure that both new and returning students are ready to embark on their educational journey.
On Thursday, August 14th, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, new students and their families are invited to attend an orientation session. This will be an opportunity for them to familiarize themselves with the school environment, meet teachers, and ask any questions they may have. Returning students will have their chance on Friday, August 15th, during the same hours.
Parents are reminded to bring all necessary paperwork, including health requirements and their child’s medical card. If there are any additions to the student’s pick-up list, parents are advised to provide the addresses and phone numbers of those individuals at this time.
Metropolis Head Start emphasizes the importance of health and safety, and all children are required to have a current physical examination on an Illinois school form, as well as records of immunizations, hemoglobin levels, blood lead test, TB skin test and dental examinations prior to the start of school. Completion of orientation along with submission of these health requirements is mandatory for all families.
For any questions or additional information, parents can reach out to the Parent Coordinator at 618-524-5222.
As the countdown to the first day of school begins, the community looks forward to welcoming students back to Metropolis Head Start, where learning and growth are at the forefront of the mission.
