Tuesday – Mostly sunny, with a high near 96. Heat index values as high as 116. Calm wind becoming north northeast around 6 mph in the afternoon.


Tuesday Night – Mostly clear, with a low around 75. Calm wind.


Wednesday – A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1pm. Sunny, with a high near 95. Calm wind.

Power Restored to Metropolis, IL After Overnight Outage

WMOK – Metropolis, IL – Residents of Metropolis and Massac County experienced a challenging night as a significant power outage affected the area late Monday evening. The outage plunged the town into darkness, prompting Ameren crews to work diligently through the night to restore electricity.

By approximately 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday, much of the power had been restored. WMOK’s power was back on just after 5:00 a.m. this morning. As of now, electricity has been fully restored throughout the city of Metropolis and surrounding areas in Massac County, bringing relief to the affected residents.

Sully's Free Kids Meals: A Community Success Every Tuesday

WMOK – Metropolis, IL – Every Tuesday, Sully’s is turning heads and filling bellies with its generous initiative of offering free meals for kids.

On July 22, 2025, the program reached a remarkable milestone, serving 214 meals, showcasing the power of community support and volunteerism.

This initiative, held at 318 Scott St. in Metropolis, allows call-in between 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. to place orders, with pickup available from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

On July 15, the program witnessed its highest turnout of the year, distributing an impressive 245 meals. Local organizers expressed their gratitude to the volunteers who make this possible.

“This is incredible,” said one community member. “Thank you to everyone who helped make these meals possible. It’s a wonderful way for us to give back to our children and our community.”

Sully’s free kids meals program is not just filling stomachs, but also fostering a spirit of unity and support among residents, proving that when a community comes together, great things can happen. Don’t miss out on the chance to be part of this heartwarming initiative every Tuesday!
