Today and Tonight.

Locally dense fog will be possible through early this morning.

Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are expected into early this
evening. A storm or two may briefly become strong to severe with
gusty to damaging winds the main threat. Torrential rainfall will
accompany any storms and flash flooding may develop where any
storms persist.

Tuesday through Sunday.

Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are expected each afternoon
through Monday. Isolated strong to severe storms are possible and
all storms will be capable of brief torrential rainfall.

Afternoon heat indices will climb into the 100 to 105 degree range
throughout the Quad State Wednesday through Saturday

Today A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1pm. Patchy fog before 8am. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 89. Calm wind becoming southwest around 6 mph in the afternoon.

Tonight A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy, with a low around 73. Calm wind.

Wednesday A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 91. Calm wind becoming southwest around 6 mph in the morning.

Wednesday Night A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1am. Partly cloudy, with a low around 73. Calm wind.

Thursday A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 10am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 93. Calm wind becoming southwest around 6 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Thursday Night A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 74. Calm wind.

Friday Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 91. Light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Join Us for Coffee Time at Happy Hearts Senior Center

WMOK Metropolis, IL – The Happy Hearts Senior Center is excited to announce that they’ve had their Official Grand Opening, and all are welcome to come and celebrate this new era with us!

Join them for Coffee Time at their location at 7th and Pearl Streets in Metropolis, the former IGA building. Starting bright and early at 7 AM,

It’s the perfect chance to relax, play a friendly card game, browse the internet on your phone, or dive into a good book by our cozy foyer window.

Be sure to pick up your July menu while you’re there—there’s so much to discover at Happy Hearts!

For just a $1.00 donation, you can enjoy “all the coffee you can drink.” If you’d like to stay for lunch, they serve a delicious meal at 11:30 AM, with a suggested donation of $3.00. Their center remains open until 2 PM, giving you plenty of time to socialize and unwind.

Soaring into this new era, all are invited to bring your coffee-loving friends and create wonderful memories together at Happy Hearts Senior Center!

C.O.P.E. Food Pantry Distributions in Massac County

C.O.P.E. Food Pantry Distribution takes place every Monday, Wednesday and Friday in Metropolis at 1013 North Avenue from 9am until 3pm.  Please bring your photo I.D. and proof of Massac County Residency.

Food auction items will start being auctioned during the Celebrity Showmanship. Be early! 



7pm –  Massac County Youth Fair – Second annual Celebrity Showmanship! Come support some of your favorite “celebrities” from local businesses showcase their talents at a livestock show. These showman will show a cow, sheep, and pig in hopes to win Showmanship. The only requirement is none of the participants can have showing or livestock experience.

32nd Annual Gospel Music Cancer Benefit Set for August 7th in Metropolis

Metropolis, IL – The 32nd Annual Gospel Music Cancer Benefit is set to take place on Thursday, August 7th, at the First Methodist Church, starting at 7 PM. This beloved event continues its tradition of bringing the community together in support of a vital cause—cancer research.

The concert will feature the renowned Tribute Quartet, hailing from Nashville, TN. Known for their powerful performances and heartfelt harmonies, the quartet promises to deliver an uplifting evening of gospel music that resonates with fans of all ages.

This year’s concert is free to attend, and attendees are encouraged to make a voluntary contribution. A free will offering will be collected during the event, with all donations going directly to support cancer research initiatives.

Organizers of the event express their gratitude to the community for its continued support over the years, which has helped raise significant funds for cancer-related causes. “Every dollar makes a difference,” said Martha Bormann, a spokesperson for the organizing committee. “Together, we can contribute to the fight against cancer and support those who are affected by this disease.”

The First Methodist Church, a long-time host of the benefit, provides a welcoming environment for attendees to gather in fellowship and support a meaningful cause.
