Suspect Apprehended After Foot Chase in Metropolis

On June 10, 2025, a Metropolis officer observed Adam V. Burnham, 36, of Grantsburg, IL, leaving a residence at 801 Catherine Street. The officer was aware that Burnham was wanted on a warrant issued by Massac County for failure to appear in court related to possession of a stolen vehicle. As the officer approached, Burnham attempted to enter a van and fled on foot, leading to a chase that ended with the officer losing sight of him.

While speaking with the driver of the van, Kelsey Littlemeyer, 29, of Metropolis, the officer learned that she was unaware of Burnham’s whereabouts. After a continued search of the area, officers received information that Burnham had re-entered the blue van. They subsequently located and stopped the vehicle while it was driving through yards in the 800 block of W. 8th Street. Burnham was taken into custody and charged with the outstanding warrant and resisting arrest. Littlemeyer was also charged with concealing or aiding in his escape and was released on a notice to appear.

The preceding information pertains to an arrest made by the Metropolis Police Department. This arrest was made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
